A series of unexplained earthquakes near a secret military base in Nevada has sparked a new wave of speculation about a possible US nuclear test. The mysterious quakes have emerged at a time when the US is engaged in a large-scale bombing campaign against Iran under Operation Apocryphal Fury, with US President Donald Trump warning that the worst is yet to come. The New START treaty, which limited the number of nuclear weapons between the US and Russia, has expired, leading to concerns about an escalation of the global arms race.
Despite official denials, the US government has not ruled out the possibility that the earthquakes were caused by a nuclear test.
