Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif-led parliamentary meeting of party leaders and lawmakers issued a joint statement on Tuesday, focusing on the situation in Afghanistan, Iran, the Middle East, and the Gulf region. The meeting aimed to brief the participants on Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts to ease tensions in the region.
According to the statement, Pakistani Foreign Office officials briefed the participants on the country’s diplomatic efforts, emphasizing that reducing tensions between Iran and the Gulf countries is Pakistan’s top priority. The meeting saw open discussions from party leaders on the need for national unity, cooperation, and solidarity in the current circumstances.
The joint statement highlighted that the participants appreciated Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts for regional peace and stressed the need to accelerate these efforts. Various suggestions for the future course of action were also presented.
Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed confidence in his interactions with Middle Eastern leaders, and the Foreign Office officials briefed the participants on Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts following Iran’s attacks on Gulf countries. They also informed the participants about the operation against Afghanistan’s Taliban regime on the western border.
Pakistani authorities have assured that they are making every effort to reduce the intensity of the conflict. Pakistan condemned Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei’s death and immediately condemned the attacks on Iran.
The meeting reiterated Pakistan’s resolve to eliminate terrorism completely. The participants praised the Prime Minister’s initiative to trust the political leadership for the national good. Inspector General of Police (IG) Sindh Javed Alam Odho has expressed satisfaction with the performance of Operation Nijat Mehran.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also spoke with Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati over the phone and condemned Israeli aggression on Lebanon. The Information Minister released fresh statistics on the losses suffered by the Afghan side in Operation Ghadab-e-Haqq.
Sources state that Maulana Fazlur Rehman expressed his views on the issues of Iran, Afghanistan, and the Middle East. Maulana emphasized the inclusion of PTI and opposition parties in the briefing. The government has decided to hold a joint parliamentary session to address the situation in the Middle East and Afghanistan.
According to security sources, the Pakistani military targeted militant and terrorist targets based on credible intelligence, and a war has been imposed on Iran. Pakistan has made diplomatic efforts to end the war through a deal.
