Pakistan’s Chief Justice of Lahore High Court has removed a civil judge from his position for failing to resign after taking leave from office. The decision comes after an investigation committee found that the civil judge, Sarmad Salim, took charge of his office without submitting his resignation after returning from leave. The investigation was conducted by a committee led by the session judge of Jhelum.
As per the notification, the inquiry revealed that the civil judge had taken charge of his office without submitting his resignation, which is a mandatory requirement. The judge’s refusal to resign led to his dismissal from the position. The notification also mentions that two other civil judges, Lahore’s Nasim Akhtar Naze and Rawalpindi’s Muhammad Aslam, were removed from their positions after allegations of misconduct and corruption.
