He studied in the seminaries of Mashhad and Qom, where he was influenced by the revolutionary activities of Imam Khomeini. After Khomeini’s death in 1989, Khamenei was appointed as the Supreme Leader of Iran, becoming the highest authority in the country and overseeing the implementation of the country’s national policies, including defense and foreign affairs.
