Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif held a telephonic conversation with Oman Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al Said on Sunday, discussing the deteriorating regional situation in the context of Israel’s attacks on Iran. According to an official statement issued from Islamabad, the two leaders exchanged views on the worsening situation in the region.
The Prime Minister stated that tensions rose at a time when the US was making diplomatic efforts to ease tensions with Iran, with Oman playing an active role in these diplomatic endeavors. The Prime Minister emphasized that Israel’s attacks have derailed the crucial diplomatic process and praised Oman’s mediation efforts, stating that its balanced diplomacy is essential for bringing stability to the region.
The Prime Minister urged for measures to prevent further escalation and restart diplomatic efforts, as per the statement. The two leaders agreed to maintain close contact and support diplomatic efforts to ensure lasting regional stability.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Religious Affairs announced the schedule for Hajj flights, with the first flight from Pakistan set to depart on April 18. A total of 468 flights will be operated under the Government Hajj Scheme to transport pilgrims to the Holy Land.
In other news, the External Affairs Division has decided to intensify efforts to deport undocumented foreign nationals, with a significant number of Pakistanis being repatriated from Iran over the past two days. The Supply Committee has also agreed to conduct daily stock checks to ensure a steady supply of essential commodities.
The Lahore High Court Bar’s election dispute has been resolved, with the meeting of the high-level committee of the Independent Group and Professional Group coming to a close. Security sources claim that the Pakistan Army has successfully targeted another terrorist hideout in Afghanistan, with the ongoing Operation Ghazab-e-Haqq continuing to achieve its objectives.
