A recent study published in a leading international journal has revealed that eating at specific times can not only improve the body’s natural sleep and wake-up cycle but also have a positive impact on heart health and metabolism. The study involved 39 individuals between 36 and 75 years old who were overweight or obese. For 7 to 7.5 weeks, one group abstained from eating between 7 pm and 10 am, while the other group continued to eat at their usual times. The study analyzed data from over 4,200 adults, and the results showed that those who avoided eating late at night had significant improvements in their heart health. Their blood pressure decreased by 3.5% and their heart rate by 5%.
According to experts, these changes reflect a healthy biological rhythm, which is associated with better cardiovascular health. The study also found that adjusting meal times improved blood sugar control during the day. When participants were given glucose, their livers responded by releasing insulin more effectively, maintaining a stable blood sugar level.
