Pakistan has imposed travel restrictions across several districts, including Dera Ismail Khan, as tensions escalate in the region. According to a notification issued by the authorities, Tank Road from Tariq Shahid to Bhagowal will remain closed from 6 am to 6 pm. Similar restrictions will be in place for 30 days across the district, with rallies, processions, and gatherings banned. Law enforcement agencies have been instructed to take action under Section 188 for any violations.
In addition to Tank Road, several other areas in the city, including Kachi, Hathla, Kot Atal, Grah Abdul Rehman, Chehkan, Darbari, Pota, and Kot Ismail Khan Road, will see movement restricted. The notification also mentions that flights arriving at Karachi Airport without prior notification will not be allowed to park.
The restrictions come as tensions rise between Pakistan and neighboring countries. A spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Afghan officials’ claims of a Pakistani plane being shot down are false. Pakistan has enhanced security measures at its airports, including Karachi Airport, and has advised its citizens to exercise caution when traveling to Iran.
In a separate development, 83 Afghan nationals have been arrested in various districts, including Islamabad, for overstaying in the country. Pakistan’s Air Force has carried out airstrikes in Afghanistan, targeting Taliban positions in Kandahar and Nangarhar provinces.
The High Court Bar elections will see 32,488 lawyers casting their ballots. The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast a dry weather pattern for Karachi and Lahore in the last days of February.
A spokesperson for the Sindh Police said 98 Afghan nationals were arrested during an operation in the district. The Pakistani military has also carried out airstrikes in Afghanistan, targeting Taliban positions in the Waziristan region.
