Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a warning to its citizens regarding security concerns in Iran. The advisory, released by the ministry’s spokesperson, advises Pakistanis to exercise caution while in Iran, limit non-essential travel and stay in continuous contact with the Pakistani missions.
The spokesperson stated that the phone numbers of the Pakistani embassy in Tehran have been made public, and that emergency instructions have been given to citizens to contact the embassy in case of an emergency situation. The US embassy in Qatar has also issued a warning, advising American citizens to remain in shelter until further notice.
The spokesperson also provided phone numbers for Pakistani consulates in the Iranian cities of Zahedan and Mashhad. On the other hand, the spokesperson appealed to citizens to remain vigilant and observe the situation. The spokesperson further stated that the diplomatic missions are always available to provide assistance to Pakistanis.
A note issued by the ministry stated that flights without prior information will not be allowed to park at Karachi Airport. The increasing tension in the Middle East has led to a situation where the reserves of petroleum products in Pakistan have come under scrutiny.
According to the Ministry of Information, the image of a Russian plane crash in Turkey in 2021 was shared by the official accounts of the Afghan Taliban regime, which is propaganda and false information. The security situation in Karachi and its surrounding areas has been tightened further.
Pakistan’s ambassador to Iran, Mubashir Tappo, stated that Iran has come under attack and that the country is facilitating the return of Pakistani citizens from Iran. The spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Tahir Hussain Andarabi, stated that the Afghan claim of Pakistan shooting down a plane is completely false.
Following the Iranian attack on Pakistan, the government has issued instructions to the Pakistan Air Traffic Control to closely monitor the country’s airspace. In a separate incident, a woman died in a domestic violence case in Lahore’s Green Town area.
The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested 83 Afghan nationals found to be living in the country illegally in various districts, including the federal capital Islamabad. According to security sources, the Pakistan Air Force has destroyed the Afghan army’s headquarters in Kandahar and targeted two objectives in the Muhmand Dara area of Nangarhar province.
Section 144 has been imposed in various areas of Dera Ismail Khan, banning all movement. In the Hight Court Bar elections, 32,488 lawyers will exercise their right to vote. There is a possibility of dry weather in Karachi and Lahore on the last days of February.
