Pakistan’s law enforcement agencies have launched a crackdown on Afghan nationals in Karachi and Rawalpindi, arresting several individuals in the process. In Karachi’s South District, police, rangers, and CTI conducted operations, arresting two Afghan nationals. According to SSP South, the arrested individuals will be shifted to a transit camp.
Meanwhile, in Rawalpindi’s Saddar area, police and law enforcement agencies conducted an operation, arresting 24 Afghan nationals who were found to be living illegally in the region. The Sindh Education Minister, Sardar Ali Shah, chaired a steering committee meeting on February 12, 2026, which approved the schedule for the upcoming academic year, admission schedule, examinations, and holidays.
Pakistani authorities have also engaged in diplomatic efforts with Saudi Arabia and Turkey, with the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Senator Ishaq Dar, holding meetings with the foreign ministers of both countries. In a significant development, the opposition alliance has initiated dialogue with the government for negotiations.
In Islamabad, opposition leaders Maulana Mahmood Khan Achakzai and Rana Sanaullah met in the Parliament House to discuss the country’s political situation. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif visited the GHQ in Rawalpindi, where the military leadership briefed him on the situation in Pakistan and Afghanistan.
The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader and Senator, Shirin Mazari, said that Afghanistan’s biggest question is whether they are accountable for their own territory or not. The Sindh government has prohibited the use of drones in Pakistan.
The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has expressed concern over the delay in appointments of administrative and teaching staff in universities across the country. All high educational institutions have been directed to complete the recruitment process for vacant positions by August 15, 2026.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor, Faisal Karamat, said that no compromise will be made on the country’s defense. Fuel prices are expected to increase from March 1, with petrol prices possibly rising to 4.58 rupees per liter.
Pakistan’s military has reportedly destroyed over 74 Taliban positions and has taken control of 18 checkposts. The Supreme Court’s office has advised the petitioners to approach the High Court for relief. Chief Justice of Pakistan, Yaqub Ali, met with PTI Chairman, Gulzar Ahmed.
Pakistan marked the seventh anniversary of Operation Swift Retort with a ceremony at the Air Headquarters in Islamabad. Sindh Chief Minister, Murad Ali Shah, said that Pakistan has given a befitting response to India and now to the Taliban regime. There were no reports of casualties in the three incidents.
Security sources confirmed that 74 Taliban positions have been completely destroyed, and 18 checkposts are under Pakistani control. Pakistan has banned the use of drones in the country.
