In a significant development, Pakistan’s armed forces have celebrated the 7th anniversary of Operation Swift Retort, a historic military operation that was launched in response to Indian aggression. On this occasion, the Pakistan military has paid tribute to the bravery and professionalism displayed by its forces during the operation. According to a statement released by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Field Marshal Asim Munir and the heads of the Pakistan Navy and Air Force have reaffirmed their commitment to protecting national security and regional peace.
The statement highlights that Operation Swift Retort, which was launched on February 27, 2019, provided a decisive response to Indian aggression. The operation had begun after Indian Air Force (IAF) launched a fake strike on its own territory, which was exposed by Pakistan to the international media. The ISPR said that the operation showcased the professionalism, preparedness, and defensive capabilities of the Pakistan Armed Forces.
The operation was a significant milestone in the country’s history, as it thwarted further aggression and restored strategic balance in the region. The military leaders reiterated that the Pakistan Armed Forces are fully prepared to counter any threat to national security and regional peace. Meanwhile, the opposition alliance has initiated talks with the government, with opposition leaders Maulana Mahmood Khan Achakzai and Rana Sanaullah meeting in Parliament House to discuss the current political situation. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif visited the General Headquarters (GHQ) and was briefed on the Pakistan-Afghanistan situation by the military leadership.
The Higher Education Commission has expressed concern over the delay in administrative and teaching appointments in universities across the country, directing all institutions to complete the recruitment process by August 15, 2026. Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mushtaq Ahmad Ghani, has stated that the country’s defense will not be compromised.
