Tensions between the United States and Iran have escalated as American Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, has reiterated that Iran poses a significant threat to US interests. Rubio emphasized that diplomatic avenues will always remain open, but Iran’s refusal to negotiate on its ballistic missile program poses a major problem. He also stated that Iran is attempting to acquire intercontinental ballistic missiles.
Rubio further mentioned that while Iran is not currently enriching uranium, it is making efforts to do so. In a separate development, the US has dispatched its largest naval fleet, led by the Gerald R. Ford aircraft carrier, from the Greek island of Crete to Israel. The fleet is currently en route to the Israeli port of Haifa, where it is expected to arrive by Friday.
Iran’s Defense Minister, Ali Shamkhani, has countered that the issue at hand is nuclear weapons, and the deal is readily available. However, he also pointed out that artificial intelligence models are more inclined to initiate a nuclear war than humans.
