Pakistan’s Ambassador to Turkey Suhail Mahmood has taken over as the Secretary-General of the D-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation. During his visit to Turkey, Suhail Mahmood held high-level meetings with the Turkish government officials, including the Deputy President of Turkey, to discuss cooperation between the D-8 member countries. The meetings focused on strengthening economic ties, reforming the organization’s structure, promoting trade, and preparing for the upcoming D-8 summit in Jakarta in April 2026.
Turkey has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthen the D-8 Organization, with the aim of making it an effective global player. The country has also agreed to continue its cooperation with the D-8 member countries to promote economic growth and development. During the meeting, Turkey’s Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu welcomed Suhail Mahmood and emphasized the importance of strengthening economic ties between the D-8 member countries.
The D-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation is a group of eight developing countries, including Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Nigeria, Pakistan, and Turkey. The organization aims to promote economic cooperation among its member countries and to strengthen their position in the global economy.
