University of Peshawar Delays Fifth BS Convocation Amid Administrative Hurdles
Peshawar University’s BS program convocation, which had been delayed since 2018, has been postponed once again. The university administration has written two letters to the Secretary of Higher Education to finalize the convocation plans, but the Higher Education Department has not responded to both letters. According to sources, the delay has resulted in losses of over Rs1.38 crore for teachers and Rs73 lakh for project staff, who have been forced to pay extra for their services despite being paid according to the approved budget.
In a recent interview with Geo News, Mina Khan Afridi, the Minister for Higher Education, said that the university would soon receive a new schedule for the convocation. She also revealed that the convocation ceremonies in universities used to last for five years in the past.
Meanwhile, a meeting of the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) was held under the chairmanship of Federal Minister for Finance, Miftah Ismail, which issued a statement on the matter. Iranian Ambassador to Pakistan, Ali Asghar Khaji, has said that the changes in the convocation system will have a positive impact on the region.
In other news, a family reunion was held for Bushra Bibi, the wife of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, at the Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi. The reunion was arranged in the conference room, and it was attended by Bushra Bibi’s family members.
