Pakistan’s Senate has unanimously passed a resolution condemning Israel’s actions in Gaza, including its violations of the ceasefire agreement and its inflammatory statements. The resolution also expresses concern over Israel’s attempts to alter the legal and historical status of the occupied Palestinian territories.
The Senate strongly condemned the Israeli leadership’s announcement to form a regional alliance, which it deemed as a threat to the unity of the Muslim world. The resolution stated that Israel’s actions are in direct contravention to international law and the United Nations Charter, and all attempts to alter the status of the occupied territories will be rejected.
The Senate also condemned the expansion of settlements in the occupied West Bank and declared that Israel’s provocative statements pose a threat to global peace and stability. The resolution emphasized that any move to undermine the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Islamic countries will be met with opposition.
The Senate demanded that Israel immediately vacate the occupied territories and provide unconditional humanitarian aid. It also reiterated its commitment to the restoration and reconstruction of Gaza, and reaffirmed its unwavering support for the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent state.
In a separate development, the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet, chaired by Federal Minister for Finance Miftah Ismail, held a meeting and issued a statement. Iranian Ambassador to Pakistan expressed confidence that the changes in the region will lead to further transformations.
The statement also highlighted the role of the Qatar Businessmen Association in strengthening Pakistan-Qatar trade links. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with Qatar’s Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman bin Thani.
In a related development, the Supreme Court has received an appeal from PTI-backed candidate Yasmin Rashid against the election tribunal’s decision. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with Qatar’s Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman bin Thani.
Separately, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz praised her team for reducing prices. She appealed to the public to boycott retailers who do not follow the price reduction policy.
In a tragic incident, a 2-year-old girl was mauled by a dog in Sheikhupura. The girl, Nurin Nayazi, suffered serious injuries to her hands, feet, and nose. She was pulled out from the under-construction canal and taken to a safe location.
The police reportedly released the driver of the out-of-control vehicle after a thorough investigation. In a separate incident, unidentified individuals detonated explosives at a government school in the Shafiq Khan Kotal area of South Waziristan.
