MQM Pakistan Chief Farooq Sattar has expressed concerns over the Gul Plaza Judicial Commission, stating that he will reserve his opinion on the ongoing investigations. Speaking to the media in front of the Sindh High Court in Karachi, MQM Chief Dr. Farooq Sattar said that they had come to support the court. He stated that they had submitted documents that clearly indicate irregularities in the construction of the Gul Plaza building, and that a case was also filed against Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) officials.
Sattar added that they had requested a hearing, but were told that their request was not necessary. He said that they had sent an email on February 19, detailing their request, but were not granted a hearing. The MQM Chief also demanded that the commission provide them with 1 hour to present their case, and half an hour for him to speak.
Sattar further stated that MQM had first demanded an investigation into the matter, and that the party would hold a press conference to discuss the issue in detail. He also claimed that the current government was the most corrupt in 18 years, and that they had evidence to prove it.
Meanwhile, Sindh Minister for Interior Zia-ul-Hassan Langoor ordered the Gul Plaza Inquiry Commission to fix responsibility on officials who were negligent and responsible for the building management. The commission has been directed to submit its report by March 9.
In a separate development, a medical board, comprising doctors from the Cardiology Hospital in Peshawar, has been formed to investigate the death of a patient. The police have registered a case against the relative of a government officer, alleging that he was involved in a case of harassment.
