Pakistan has suffered another tragic loss as a military officer and a soldier were martyred in a terrorist attack on a security forces’ convoy in Bannu. According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the security forces received intelligence about a suicide bomber’s car, and they were conducting an operation in the area based on the information. ISPR stated that during the operation, the terrorist group “Futnah-e-Khawarij” launched an attack on the security forces’ convoy, and the terrorists rammed a car loaded with explosives into a security forces’ vehicle, resulting in the martyrdom of Lieutenant Colonel Shahzada Gulfaraz and soldier Karim Shah.
The security forces were conducting an operation in Lakki Marwat on the night of February 18-19. According to ISPR, five Khawarij were also killed during the operation. The Taliban government has failed to stop the use of Afghan territory for terrorism against Pakistan. ISPR stated that the Khawarij are still carrying out terrorist activities in Pakistan from Afghanistan, and it is clear that their actions have no connection to Islam. ISPR emphasized that Pakistan will continue to take action against the Khawarij without any discrimination, and the anti-terrorism operation will continue with full force.
ISPR stated that the bravery of soldiers like Lieutenant Colonel Shahzada Gulfaraz and soldier Karim Shah strengthen Pakistan’s resolve and determination. The operation was part of the “Determination of Stability” campaign of the security forces.
