The Pakistan Army’s vehicle was targeted in a suicide bombing attack in Bannu, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which has been claimed by the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), a splinter group of the Khawarij movement. According to security sources, the TTP’s central commander, Hafiz Gul Bahadur, is hiding in Afghanistan, along with other senior leaders of the group. The sources revealed that the group has been involved in terrorist activities and sectarianism in Pakistan, which is backed by the Afghan Taliban regime.
The TTP has accepted responsibility for the recent bombing in Bannu, which was planned in Afghanistan. Security sources stated that the group had also carried out a similar attack on a cantonment in Bannu on March 4, 2025, during the holy month of Ramadan. The sources added that the group had also claimed responsibility for multiple attacks in North and South Waziristan, and the planning and execution of these attacks were done from Afghanistan.
The spokesperson for the Interior Ministry, Tahir Ikram, said that Pakistan is a responsible nation and has always tried to maintain good relations with its neighboring countries. He added that the export of terrorism from Afghanistan has been going on for a long time.
In a press conference in Islamabad, leaders of the opposition alliance, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), criticized the government’s economic policies and accused it of trying to mislead the nation. PTI’s leader, Imran Khan, said that the government’s claims of economic progress are baseless. Khawaja Saad Rafique, another PTI leader, said that the government has lost its way and is not capable of taking the country forward.
The spokesperson for the Sindh government, Sharjeel Inam Memon, said that some people are trying to create chaos and mislead the nation. He added that the government is working hard to maintain law and order in the province.
In a separate development, the Chairman of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Javed Iqbal, said that the NAB has received its annual report from the Interior Ministry. The report highlights the challenges faced by the interior ministry in maintaining law and order in the country.
The government has also launched a campaign to promote the use of Green Tractors in the country. The campaign, called the “CM Green Tractor Program Phase 3,” was launched by the Chief Minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz.
In other news, the Chief Minister of Sindh, Syed Murad Ali Shah, said that the city of Karachi is expected to experience a dry spell in the coming days. The police have arrested a man accused of attempting to kill a woman in the city.
In international news, the Pakistani delegation attending the Security Council meeting in New York has expressed gratitude to the British Foreign Secretary, Elizabeth Truss, for organizing a crucial meeting on the Palestinian issue.
The Iranian government has released a statement saying that the two countries, Iran and the United States, have different views on the issue of lifting sanctions.
