Renowned Pakistani poet Syed Salman Gilani has passed away, as confirmed by his family. According to family sources, Syed Salman Gilani had been ailing for a long period and was receiving treatment at Sheikh Zayed Hospital in Lahore.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the head of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI), expressed his condolences on the poet’s death. He described Syed Salman Gilani as a highly acclaimed poet, a master of naat (Qur’anic verse), and a skilled prose writer, whose works have benefited millions of people.
The Minister of State for Interior, Tahir Chaudhry, stated that Pakistan is a responsible state and should maintain better relations with its neighbors. He added that the country has been exporting terrorism to Afghanistan for a long time.
Leaders of the opposition alliance, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), held a news conference in Islamabad, where PTI Chairman and former Finance Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pervez Khattak, claimed that the government’s promises to improve the economy are baseless.
