PESHAWAR, PAKISTAN – In a significant breakthrough, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police has arrested a woman suspected of planning a terror attack. According to the CTD, the woman, a resident of Derai Ismail Khan, had been brainwashing people on social media, establishing links with local and trans-border handlers of extremist groups.
During her interrogation, the woman confessed that she had received explosives and target information from a foreign terrorist commander, Asim. The CTD officials claimed that they had recovered a pistol, cartridges, mobile phones, tablet, and other equipment used in the planned attack from the suspect.
The arrest comes as Pakistan continues to battle against terrorism, with Interior Minister Talal Chaudhry stating that Pakistan is a responsible state, always striving to maintain better relations with its neighbors and addressing the issue of terrorism exported from Afghanistan.
In a press conference, the leaders of the opposition alliance, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), criticized the government’s economic claims, calling them baseless. PTI’s leader, former Finance Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Akram Khan Durrani, claimed that the government has failed to improve the economy.
Meanwhile, a report from the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has been submitted to the Ministry of Interior. Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz inaugurated Phase 3 of the CM Green Tractor Program.
In other news, a woman was arrested in Karachi’s Lyari Chakiwara area for allegedly attempting to kill a minor. Shandana Gulzar stated that such incidents are a result of trauma, old age, and severe mental pressure.
Sindh Senior Minister Syed Sharjeel Mahmood Shah claimed that some people are politicizing every issue and spreading despair. The report highlights the challenges faced by the government in addressing terrorism, with the Taliban continuing to carry out attacks in Afghanistan.
In international news, England has won the T20 World Cup 2026, defeating Sri Lanka in the Super Eight stage. The opposition alliance, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, held a press conference in Islamabad, criticizing the government’s economic policies.
Former PTI Finance Minister Akram Khan Durrani stated that the government’s claims of economic improvement are baseless. Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar claimed that the government is making political compromises rather than taking a firm stance.
The family of the minor girl who was allegedly targeted by the accused said that their daughter was a victim of harassment and received death threats. NADRA has submitted its annual report to the Ministry of Interior.
