The Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight from Riyadh to Islamabad made an emergency landing in Karachi on Wednesday after a passenger suffered a medical condition while flying over Iranian airspace. According to PIA officials, the private airline’s flight had taken off from Riyadh and was headed to Islamabad when the passenger’s condition deteriorated.
The pilot sought permission from Karachi’s Air Traffic Controller for an emergency landing, and after receiving clearance, the flight landed safely at Karachi Airport. The Interior Minister, Talaal Chaudhry, claimed that Pakistan is a responsible state and always strives to maintain better relations with its neighbors. He added that the country has been dealing with terrorism exported from Afghanistan for a long time.
Meanwhile, leaders of the opposition coalition, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), addressed a news conference in Islamabad. PTI leader and former Minister for Finance, Fawad Chaudhry, claimed that the government’s claims of improving the economy are baseless. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui stated that a peaceful solution can resolve any issue and that Pakistanis want to live in peace. He also said that the country has reached a crucial point and needs to make a decision.
Hafiz Tahir Mahmood Ashrafi claimed that if Afghanistan does not stop terrorism, Pakistan will respond accordingly. He also stated that the visit to Ankara was successful and that the country will not back down from its stance.
In a separate incident, a 1-year-old baby girl was allegedly subjected to abuse in the Liaquatabad area of Karachi. The police arrested the accused person on charges of attempted murder. Social activist Shandana Gulzar claimed that such incidents are a result of trauma, old age, and extreme mental pressure.
