The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) has released a report exposing the brutal treatment of Palestinian journalists in Israeli prisons. According to the report, Palestinian reporters face torture and mistreatment during their detention, with 56 Palestinian journalists targeted with violence by Israeli authorities. CPJ claims that Palestinian journalists were subjected to extremely loud music, while 17 were sexually assaulted. A Palestinian journalist, Saleh al-Ja’afari, was killed by an Israeli-backed gang in Gaza.
The report states that 55 journalists were not provided with food in Israeli jails, and that the brutal treatment was an attempt to prevent them from reporting on the situation in Gaza and the West Bank. The report highlights the case of Palestinian journalist Ahmed Abdul A’al, who was detained for five days with a cloth covering his eyes and subjected to loud music. When he lost consciousness, he was revived with electric shocks.
In a separate incident, a US journalist asked if the Gaza devastation aligns with Christian values, to which Senator Lindsey Graham replied that he does not believe so.
