Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had a meeting with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, along with Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, in Washington D.C. After the meeting, Antony Blinken shared a photo on social media. In the photo caption, he expressed admiration for Pakistan’s support for the US President’s Gaza peace plan and its participation in the Board of Peace.
During the meeting, strategic relationships, economic development, and counter-terrorism were among the topics discussed. US Secretary of State Antony Blinken also emphasized Pakistan’s role in the Gaza peace plan. This includes participation in the inaugural meeting of the Washington Gaza Board. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also addressed the first meeting of the Gaza Peace Board, stating that the US President’s role in resolving conflicts is commendable.
He highlighted how the timely intervention of US President Trump halted the Pakistan-India war, saved thousands of precious lives, and averted significant damage to South Asia. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that a permanent peace in Gaza is Pakistan’s mission, a free Palestinian state is necessary for peace, and establishing peace in Gaza would be a significant achievement and legacy for the US.
In other news, the opposition leader, Sindh Assembly’s Ali Khursheed, stated that the nationalist parties and the Pakistan People’s Party have a similar stance. Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah presented a resolution in the Sindh Assembly against the division of the province. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that if PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s health was politicized, the situation would be different.
