The anti-terrorism court in Karachi has granted bail to 30 workers of Jamaat-e-Islami who were arrested for staging a protest and creating a ruckus outside the Sindh Assembly. The court ordered each accused to post a surety bond of Rs. 30,000. The police had seized a sound system belonging to the Jamaat-e-Islami and arrested 10 of its workers. All the accused were arrested on Monday night and were in judicial remand. It is worth mentioning that workers of Jamaat-e-Islami clashed with the police in Karachi, and when the workers tried to reach the Sindh Assembly, Rangers officials were summoned. The police used tear gas to disperse the workers, and one of them was injured. Sindh Chief Minister Suhail Aftab Khan said that if the PTI chairman was concerned about his health, he would have acted differently. Lawyer Safdar Hussain told the media that the Islamabad High Court’s decision has led to a change in the strategy of seeking bail before arrest.
