In a joint letter to the media, leaders of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) have condemned the harsh statements made by President Asif Ali Zardari against the party’s founder, Imran Khan. The letter, signed by PTI leaders Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Yasmin Rashid, Aijaz Chaudhry, Omar Sarfraz Cheema, and Mahmood Rashid, highlights the PTI leaders’ concerns over the government’s treatment of Imran Khan in Kot Lakhpat Jail.
The letter calls for the government to stop politicizing Imran Khan’s health and to allow his sisters and personal doctors to visit him. The PTI leaders also demand that the government should focus on tackling the growing menace of terrorism, inflation, and corruption in the country.
In a separate letter, the PTI leaders have asked the government to organize the party at all levels and to prepare for local body elections across the country. They have also requested that the government should postpone all forms of protests and demonstrations during the holy month of Ramadan.
Meanwhile, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Saeed Afridi has expressed his surprise at the government’s decision to politicize Imran Khan’s health, saying that it was not the right approach. Lawyer Faisal Chaudhry has stated that the Islamabad High Court’s decision has led to a re-evaluation of the pre-arrest bail applications.
Security sources have revealed that the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) is linked to the Khawarij group, led by Hafiz Gul Bahadur. The Pakistan Muslim League (Q) and the Balochistan Awami Party have expressed their full support for the security forces in their fight against terrorism.
PTI leader Ali Amin Gandapur has stated that if the country’s internal issues were resolved, Imran Khan would not be in jail. He has also pointed out that the COVID-19 pandemic, global inflation, and geo-political tensions have had a significant impact on the Pakistani economy since 2019.
In a video message, Gandapur expressed his regret over the situation and apologized for any mistakes he may have made. Barrister Gohar Ali Khan has stated that the Islamabad High Court has issued a written order in the case of the contentious tweets.
