In a humanitarian effort, the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has set up a temporary market at the Polo Grounds, accommodating around 300 stalls for traders affected by the devastating fire at the Gl Plaza shopping mall in Karachi. According to officials, the temporary stalls are equipped with electricity, water, and resting facilities for both the traders and customers. The authorities have also deployed 50 city wardens for security purposes.
The tragic incident occurred at the Gl Plaza shopping mall on MA Jinnah Road, a bustling area in Karachi, where a massive fire reduced the multi-story building to rubble. The incident resulted in the loss of 86 lives, while over 1,200 stalls were reduced to ashes. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Saeed-ur-Rehman Afreedi commented on the incident, saying that if the PTI founder had focused on health, his behavior would have been different.
