In a recent development related to the eye treatment of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto, it has been revealed that Dr. Asim Yusuf, a consultant at the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital, had recommended three eye specialists to examine Bilawal. However, none of these specialists were allowed to conduct the examination.
According to sources, Dr. Asim Yusuf had provided the names of the recommended specialists, including Dr. Sajjad Raheem, Dr. Ammar Awais, and Maj Gen (R) Mazhar Ishaq, to the authorities. However, instead of these specialists, Dr. Nadeem Qureshi and Dr. Arif were sent to examine Bilawal from the Shifa International Hospital.
Sources claim that the decision to send Dr. Nadeem Qureshi was made after Dr. Asim Yusuf and Dr. Khurram Murza were denied permission to visit Bilawal at the Adiala Jail.
It has been reported that the first injection was administered to Bilawal on January 25, and a second injection was scheduled for February 25. However, it is unclear whether the second injection will be administered at the jail or at a hospital.
Sajjad Raheem, a relative of Bilawal, claimed that the name of Dr. Nadeem Qureshi was provided by Dr. Asim Yusuf after being asked about it. Dr. Qureshi reportedly told Bilawal that he had difficulty seeing the clock on the wall a few weeks ago, but Bilawal said that he could see the clock and even the second hand.
According to sources, Bilawal had told Dr. Qureshi that he was being threatened by former Punjab Police chief and a member of the Khwaja Khurram Group, Iqbal Masihud. Bilawal also claimed that he was intimidated by the group and was told to leave the prison.
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has been aware of Bilawal’s eye problem since February 9. The party’s leadership has been making efforts to ensure that Bilawal receives proper treatment.
