Peshawar High Court’s directives have prompted the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police and administration to clear blockades on various roads, restoring traffic flow. The GT Road, a crucial link between Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab, has also been reopened for traffic, although the Swabi Interchange remains closed. The KP Police have also reopened roads connecting Dera Ismail Khan with Mianwali and Chashma, as well as the Dera Ismail Khan Motorway Toll Plaza.
The court had ordered the reopening of blocked roads in the province, citing that the four-day closure had caused severe difficulties for the public, with people risking their lives. The federal Minister for Interior, Mohsin Nawaz Khatiz, had assured that the federal government would implement the court’s decision.
Following the verdict, the KP Police and administration began clearing blockades on various roads, including the GT Road, which connects Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab. The roads connecting Dera Ismail Khan with Mianwali and Chashma, as well as the Dera Ismail Khan Motorway Toll Plaza, were also reopened for traffic.
Meanwhile, the PTI leader, Sher Ali Arbab, accepted responsibility for the death of a woman stuck in traffic due to the blockade. Pakistan had expressed concern over the Taliban’s presence in Afghanistan, led by the PTI.
In a significant development, oil and gas reserves were discovered in the Tando Allahyar district of Sindh. According to the OGDC, the expected daily gas production from the Ders West 3 well is 97 million cubic feet.
