The Delhi High Court has granted interim bail to Bollywood actor Rajpal Yadav in a Rs 9 crore loan case. Businessman Madhaw Gopal Agarwal, who lent the money to Yadav, has spoken to the media for the first time about the controversy. In an interview with News Panch, Agarwal said that he lent Yadav Rs 5 crore in 2012 for the film “Aatish: Feel the Fire,” which later increased to over Rs 9 crore with interest and agreements. The family is overjoyed that they can now attend the wedding of Yadav’s brother.
Agarwal said that his first meeting with Yadav was through MP Meenakshi Lekhi, who introduced them, saying that the film was almost complete and that if the money was not paid, the project would fail. Agarwal claimed that he initially gave Yadav a personal loan, but when the agreed-upon time passed without repayment, he went to Yadav’s house and cried, like a child, but Yadav did not return the money and promised to pay later.
Agarwal said that after Yadav’s wife, Radha, sent emotional appeals for help, he agreed to lend him the money again. However, Agarwal claimed that the agreement was clear that the loan would not be affected by the film’s success or censor certificate, and that the entire amount was to be returned within the agreed-upon time, with Yadav providing a personal guarantee. After that, when the film’s music was launched at a ceremony attended by senior actor Amitabh Bachchan, Yadav went to court and obtained an injunction on the film’s release. Agarwal claimed that later, after a mutual understanding, permission was given for the release, but the film flopped. In 2013, a new settlement was reached in court, but the matter continued due to non-payment.
In the interview, Agarwal said that he is only a businessman and his demand is to get his money back. He added that they always give each other space and that this strengthens their relationship and fosters better communication between them.
