In a historic turn of events, the 13th General Elections in Bangladesh have not only altered the country’s political landscape but also marked a significant victory for parties that have faced continuous defeats and restrictions in the past. Among these parties is the Bangladesh Jatiya Party (BJP), which has made headlines by securing one seat in the elections. The party’s candidate, Andalib Rahman Partho, has won the Bhola-1 constituency by a landslide margin.
In the elections, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and its allies secured 212 seats, with the BNP alone bagging 209 seats. Andalib Rahman Partho secured 1,05,543 votes, defeating his closest rival, Jamaat-e-Islami’s candidate, Mohammad Nazrul Islam, who secured 75,337 votes. Partho had promised to transform Bhola into a modern and beautiful city, dubbed ‘Telotma’.
