Karachi Metropolitan University (KMU) has announced the appointment of two new deans for its various faculties. The appointments were made by the Sindh Chief Minister, Syed Murad Ali Shah, under the Karachi Metropolitan University Act 2022, on the recommendation of the Vice Chancellor, Dr. Wasim Qazi. Prof. Dr. Naser Ali Khan has been appointed as the Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry and Allied Sciences for a three-year term, while Prof. Dr. Gul Afshan has been appointed as the Dean of the Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences for a period of her retirement, i.e., up to June 11, 2027.
The news of the appointments comes amid reports of alleged irregularities in the International Training Fellowship (ITF) program, which have been denied by the University administration. The University has congratulated the two dignified professors on taking up new responsibilities, and it is expected that their leadership will lead to improved education standards, research, and development of the institution.
Sindh University has reaffirmed its commitment to providing high-quality education and a conducive learning environment.
In other news, Sindh Chief Minister, Syed Murad Ali Shah, has ordered the fixing of prices of various commodities for the month of Ramadan. The notification has fixed the price of 14 rupees for 100 grams of flatbread and 18 to 21 rupees for 120 to 150 grams of tandoori bread.
