In an interview with a British private TV channel, the Oscar-winning musician praised Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan’s artistic greatness and noble character. A R Rahman expressed his admiration for the Pakistani legend and revealed that he was deeply influenced by him.
In the interview, A R Rahman recalled that he had been given the rare opportunity to record a song with Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, but unfortunately, the great musician passed away just a month after the recording. However, he said that the experience was a moment of pure magic, and he felt like he had achieved a long-awaited goal in his life.
The renowned music director also reminisced about the night he spent with Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, where they had a jam session and performed a Qawwali together. A R Rahman revealed that the Pakistani legend’s presence was like a gift, and he felt like he had learned a lot in a short span.
Seventeen years after the passing of Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, his voice will be heard once again in his upcoming album “Chai of Light,” which is set to be released on September 20.
