Dr. Rahman secured 85,131 votes, while his closest rival from the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) received 63,517 votes. This gave Dr. Rahman a 21,614 vote lead.
On Thursday evening, Jamaat-e-Islami had accused the Election Commission of irregularities in the vote counting process in the Dhaka-15 constituency. The party stated that while the results of other constituencies in Dhaka were being announced, there was an unusual delay in announcing the results of Dhaka-15.
Shahriar Muqueet, a member of the Jamaat-e-Islami, acknowledged defeat on his verified Facebook account, congratulating his opponent, Nashiruddin Chowdhury.
The Dhaka-15 constituency has a total of 351,718 registered voters, with 1,796,616 male, 1,722,098 female, and 4,004 voters of the third gender. A total of eight candidates contested the seat.
