Pakistan’s Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) has announced the arrest of 26 suspected terrorists across multiple cities in Punjab, including Lahore. According to a statement issued by the CTD, one alleged member of Al-Qaeda was arrested in Lahore, while four suspected members of the Fitan Al-Khawarij were apprehended in Sargodha. The arrested terrorists are believed to have links to the area of Gujranwala, from where explosives, an IED bomb, and three detonators were recovered. The arrested individuals include Afzan, Daman Ali, Mjahid Ali, Faisal, Shiraz, Nematullah, Asma, Ghulam Yasin, Yasser, Imran, and others.
The CTD officials stated that the arrested terrorists were planning to carry out operations in different locations. The government prioritizes human sympathy and legal demands, ensuring that every prisoner receives facilities as per the law, said Tarique Faisal Chaudhry, a government official.
The medical panel, comprising Dr. Amjad and Dr. Nadeem Qureshi, will examine the PTI chairman, Imran Khan, who is currently under detention. After the medical examination, the PTI chairman will be shifted to a hospital if necessary. However, the opposition alliance, TLP, has demanded that Imran Khan be shifted to a hospital immediately for medical treatment.
PTI’s Vice-Chairperson, Alima Khan, stated that Imran Khan was extremely happy to hear the voices of his sons after a long time. Atta Tarrar, a PTI leader, said that Imran Khan was being provided with better facilities in jail than the general prisoners. However, Ali Amin Gandapur, a PTI leader, said that he had not required any assistance during his own imprisonment and questioned why the Chief Executive of Punjab needed assistance.
Punjab Chief Minister, Maryam Nawaz, praised the Ramadan Nigehban ATEM card initiative. Salmann Akram Raja, a PTI leader, stated that Imran Khan had the right to proper medical treatment, and there should be no delay.
The police have taken into custody a sound system belonging to Jamaat-e-Islami and arrested 10 of its workers. Former Health Minister, Dr. Zafar Mirza, revealed that Imran Khan had an eye-related disease. Senior PPP leader and renowned lawyer, Aitezaz Hassan, supported the medical bail of Imran Khan. Information Minister, Marriyum Aurangzeb, urged people to refrain from speculation regarding Imran Khan’s treatment.
Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Operations, Javed Tariq, stated that no journalist would be allowed to interview the arrested individuals, and those attempting to do so would have their cameras seized. The Meteorological Department has forecasted a weak western wind system entering Balochistan on February 16.
