A 55-year-old Indian woman, Pushpavati, was brutally murdered by her own daughter, Sachitra, in the Tumakuru district of Karnataka, India. Sachitra, who also resides in Tumakuru with her husband, had visited an astrologer approximately 18 months ago, after her father’s untimely death. The astrologer allegedly claimed that her mother had cast a black spell, leading to her father’s demise.
Convinced by the astrologer’s claims, Sachitra visited her mother’s home, where she found her sleeping. Sachitra allegedly covered her mother’s mouth with a pillow, causing her to suffocate. After committing the crime, Sachitra attempted to create the illusion of a natural death by arranging for the last rites and hurriedly disposing of the body. However, the suspicious marks on the body caught the attention of the villagers, who subsequently contacted the police.
During the investigation, it was revealed that Sachitra had murdered her mother in a fit of rage, believing the astrologer’s fabricated claims. This incident is the latest in a series of similar crimes in India, where individuals have been driven to madness by the false prophecies of astrologers.
