In a closely watched election, Dr. Shafiq Rahman, the leader of Jamaat-e-Islami, has secured a crucial victory in Bangladesh’s 15th parliamentary constituency, with the official declaration made by the Election Commission. According to the commission’s report, Dr. Rahman garnered 85,131 votes, while his closest rival, Shafiq Islam Khan of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), received 63,517 votes.
