Meanwhile, former Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif congratulated the leader of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party, Tarique Rahman, on his party’s electoral victory over the phone. Sharif’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party has been embroiled in a controversy surrounding the health of its founder, Imran Khan, who is currently in jail.
Federal Minister for Planning and Development, Ahsan Iqbal, said that the government has previously launched several operations to tackle the ongoing protests, but they ended in disaster. He suggested that the government’s priority should be Imran Khan’s health, and that a dialogue with the opposition should be held after consulting the Prime Minister.
Federal Minister for Interior, Senator Talal Chaudhary, said that Pakistan’s national interest is paramount, and that the government should prioritize the country’s security over any other issue. Pakistan’s Navy has also been strengthening its ties with other countries, as its new ship, PNS Khyber, made its maiden voyage to Turkey’s Aksaz Naval Base.
