Punjab’s Home Department has issued crucial instructions to relevant authorities to ensure the security arrangements for Ramadan. According to a directive, mosques, religious sites, and Ramadan bazaars will be given top priority for security. The department has also instructed the deployment of additional personnel for the protection of mosques, seminaries, and Imam Bargahs.
The instructions state that security will be further tightened during Suhur, Iftar, Taraweeh, and Friday prayers. Furthermore, surveillance, cordoning, and search operations will be made more effective around mosques. Before Ramadan, the installation of CCTV cameras, walk-through gates, and search lights has been ensured. The directive also orders the provision of Iftar for field staff.
The Home Department has also directed the strict monitoring of proscribed organizations and fourth-schedule individuals. The administration has been instructed to take strict action against hoarders and profiteers. The use of loudspeakers has also been strictly prohibited, and the exhibition of firearms has been banned throughout Punjab.
The Punjab government has also directed the relevant authorities to take strict action against hate speech and inflammatory content on social media. The removal of objectionable writings and posters on walls is also part of the directive.
