A report submitted to the Supreme Court by Friend of Court Barrister Salman Safdar has shed light on the living conditions and health of PTI founder Imran Khan while in jail. According to the report, despite treatment, Khan’s vision in his right eye has been reduced to just 15%. The report has demanded that an immediate eye examination be conducted.
The report states that Khan’s medical examination should be conducted by his personal doctor Faisal Sultan, Dr. Asim Yusuf, or any other specialist doctor. It is revealed in the report that Khan’s vision in both eyes was 6×6 (completely normal) until October 2025, after which he started complaining of constant mistiness and blurred vision. Khan had informed the then superintendent of jail about his complaints of mistiness and blurred vision multiple times, but no effective action was taken by the jail authorities.
The report further states that Khan’s vision in his right eye suddenly stopped functioning altogether, after which he was referred to a specialist doctor at PIMS hospital, Dr. Muhammad Arif. Khan’s eye had a blood clot, which had caused severe damage. Despite treatment, including an injection, his right eye vision was limited to just 15%.
The report suggests that Khan should be provided with books, considering his isolation and limited access to TV. Khan has stated that he is not concerned about his safety and security. He has also informed that there are approximately 10 CCTV cameras in the compound where he is being held. However, there is no camera inside the cell or room. The report also mentions that the authorities have provided Khan with a personal assistant to help him with his daily needs.
The report has also revealed that Khan follows a daily routine, which includes breakfast at around 9:45 am, followed by Quran recitation from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm, and then uses limited exercise equipment, including a exercise bike and two 9 kg dumbbells. Khan is allowed to take a walk in the compound’s courtyard from 1:15 pm to 2:00 pm, and is provided with lunch between 3:30 pm and 4:00 pm. Khan is also allowed to take a short walk in the evening from 5:00 pm to 5:30 pm.
The report has also mentioned that Khan’s cell is located in a separate block, which is approximately 5 minutes away from the rest of the jail. The block has a separate gate and is well-guarded. The report has also stated that Khan’s cell has a separate kitchen, where he is provided with food, which is prepared by the jail authorities.
The report has also revealed that Khan’s cell has a separate toilet, which is not connected to the rest of the jail. The toilet has a separate door and is well-ventilated. However, the report has noted that the toilet does not have an exhaust system.
