Pakistan has marked a significant improvement in the Corruption Perception Index (CPI) 2025, released by Transparency International. The country’s overall score has risen to 28, a one-point increase from the previous year. According to the latest report by Transparency International, Pakistan has secured the 136th position, up from last year, maintaining a trend of improvement in the overall score over the past four years due to good governance and sustained institutional reforms.
The report highlights a marked improvement in corruption perceptions not only in the public sector and administration but also in the legislative bodies and judiciary in Pakistan. The perception of corruption in Pakistan has decreased significantly, with Transparency International releasing a report on corruption perception in Pakistan. The report includes two additional countries this year, taking the total to 182 countries, up from 180 in 2024.
The report notes a notable decrease in corruption perceptions in Pakistan over the past four years, with the country’s position improving by four ranks. This is a significant achievement, considering that Pakistan had earlier released a report in December 2025, stating that 2 out of 3 citizens had never encountered corruption or irregularity in government institutions.
