Bollywood Actor Rajpal Yadav, known for his impeccable comedic timing, has been sent to jail once again due to his involvement in a long-running financial dispute. This case dates back to 2010 when Yadav borrowed 5 crores from Delhi-based company Meri Projects Private Limited, which led to a series of legal issues as the film he directed, “Ata Pata Laapata,” failed to perform well at the box office. The matter reached the court, and in April 2018, a magistrate’s court sentenced Yadav and his wife Radha to a fine under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, which deals with bounced checks. The case has been pending for over a decade due to multiple appeals and legal actions.
Recently, Yadav surrendered in court, which led to him being sent to jail as he failed to repay the remaining amount, which has now reached approximately 9 crores, including interest and penalties. Yadav has been a prominent figure in Bollywood for his comedic performances in numerous films. However, there has been no official statement from Yadav regarding the recent court verdict.
According to legal experts, Yadav could face imprisonment if he fails to implement the court’s order under the Negotiable Instruments Act.
