US Federal Investigation Agency (FBI) and the Ministry of Justice have announced severe sentences for two individuals convicted of child sex abuse. 44-year-old Wasim Sharif from Texas, USA, has been sentenced to 960 months in prison and lifetime supervision. The court also imposed a special fine of $135,000 under the AMY, Vicky, and Andy Act. Sharif pleaded guilty to multiple charges of child sex abuse and child pornography in June 2025.
According to the press release, co-accused Black Miller Barakat, 50, has been sentenced to 840 months in prison and lifetime supervision. A fine of $30,000 has also been imposed on him. Barakat also pleaded guilty to charges of child sex abuse and possessing and distributing child pornography in June 2025.
FBI stated that Sharif used his faith to deceive Barakat, making him believe that sexual pleasure could bring him closer to God. Court documents revealed that in October 2024, both defendants lured a 7-year-old boy into watching and sharing adult pornography, before forcing him to perform sexual acts to create child pornography. The case was registered under the Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide program by the US Department of Justice to combat online child sex abuse.
