The MQM’s politics have caused harm to Karachi and the MQM itself, says the party’s leader Nazim Hussain Sial. Speaking at the Karachi Literature Festival about the different stages of his life, Sial said that when MQM was facing a difficult time, his children were also involved. He further stated that when Musharraf came to power, MQM showed willingness to meet him, but Musharraf refused, calling MQM a terrorist party. Sial said that Musharraf used MQM for his own stability purposes. He also mentioned that MQM had given Muhajirs an identity in Karachi. In a recent interview, MQM leader Nazim Hussain Sial spoke about the results of the 2024 elections, claiming that in 2018, PTI founder Imran Khan was supposed to win, and MQM was given seats. Sial also mentioned that during the 2002 elections, a candidate from the Jamaat-e-Islami was given a seat on the Defence constituency because MQM was defeated.
