The Islamabad High Court has intervened in the fraud case involving the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and Najaf Hamid, the brother of former Director General ISI, Faiz Hamid. Justice Ijazul Ahsan Manhas, the special judge, has stayed the order to arrest Najaf Hamid and issued notices to both parties, seeking their responses. According to the court order, the trial court had approved Najaf Hamid’s bail on January 16, but without any reason, the bail order was taken back. The order to cancel the bail remains suspended until further notice.
Sources claim that all relevant agencies have been asked to provide details about Najaf Hamid. The FIA Anti-Corruption Cell has initiated an inquiry. It is worth noting that the Special Judge Central had withdrawn the January 16 order approving Najaf Hamid’s bail before arrest. Najaf Hamid had challenged the January 24 order canceling his bail in the Islamabad High Court.
