Islamabad, Pakistan – The federal government has initiated an investigation into the recent bombing at the Islamabad mosque, which resulted in the deaths of 32 people and injured over 170 others. The probe is being conducted in collaboration with the National Forensic Agency and NADRA, with the police collecting evidence from the scene.
According to sources, the bomber first fired shots before entering the mosque and firing six rounds, with investigators recovering the shells from the location. The police claim that the bomber then detonated explosives in the mosque hall, using around 4 kilograms of shrapnel-laden explosives.
The bombing occurred at the mosque during Friday prayers, with the assailant attempting to enter the mosque through the main gate. The incident has sparked concerns about regional security, with the Interior Ministry stating that the plot was orchestrated by ISIS in Afghanistan, under the patronage of the Afghan Taliban.
The incident has also highlighted the country’s struggle with terrorism, with the UN condemning the attack and urging the government and people of Pakistan to unite against extremism and terrorism.
In related news, the Supreme Court has taken notice of the case, with the Registrar meeting with PTI parliamentarians to discuss the matter. Former Finance Minister Miftah Ismail has expressed concerns about Pakistan’s economic situation, attributing it to the country’s flawed political structure.
Meanwhile, Governor Punjab Sardar Salim Haider has stated that India cannot subdue Pakistan through terrorism. Malala Yousafzai has called for unity and cooperation to improve the country, using the arrival of spring as a symbol of hope.
In other developments, the Pakistan Cricket Board has dismissed allegations made by Indian media, while Bollywood actor Imran Khan has criticized three top stars in the industry, labeling them as “superstars” who are out of touch with the youth.
