Pakistan’s military has announced the successful conclusion of two separate operations against terrorist groups in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, resulting in the deaths of 24 terrorists affiliated with the Pakistani Taliban.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the operations were conducted in the districts of Orakzai and Khyber, based on intelligence reports. In Orakzai, the military targeted the hideouts of the terrorists, resulting in the deaths of 14 terrorists in a fierce exchange of fire.
In a separate operation in Khyber, the security forces clashed with terrorists, resulting in the deaths of 10 more terrorists. The ISPR stated that a total of 197 terrorists have been killed in the ongoing operation against terrorism in the region.
The military also conducted search operations against other Pakistani Taliban militants in the area, with the aim of completely eliminating the remaining terrorist elements. The ISPR emphasized that the anti-terrorism operation is being carried out under the vision of “Stability and Determination.”
Meanwhile, opposition leaders met with Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the chairman of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F), in Islamabad. Speaking on the occasion, opposition leader Mahmood Khan Achakzai said that political leaders should focus on resolving the crisis through peaceful means.
In other news, the Interior Minister, Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, announced that the suspect behind the recent bombing in Islamabad was a Pakistani citizen. The minister added that the suspect had received training in Afghanistan and had made multiple trips to the country.
The government has also announced that it will provide compensation to the families of the victims of the Islamabad bombing. The prime minister has also directed the authorities to investigate the incident and bring the perpetrators to justice.
In a separate development, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman, Imran Khan, has been diagnosed with a condition known as central retinal vein occlusion. The PTI has announced that Khan will undergo treatment at a hospital in Lahore.
The Punjab government has also announced that it will provide compensation to the families of the victims of the Islamabad bombing. The chief minister, Hamza Shahbaz, has directed the authorities to provide medical assistance to the injured and to investigate the incident.
In a statement, the chief minister said that the people of Punjab were shocked and saddened by the incident and that the government was committed to providing justice to the victims and their families.
