A new record has been set in the sale of international media rights for the Pakistan Super League (PSL). The value of international media rights has increased by 149% compared to last year. Willington Technologies has acquired the rights, surpassing the reserve price set by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). The significant increase in the value of international media rights is a clear indication of the league’s growing popularity and brand value. PCB CEO Salman Naseer said that PSL is strengthening its position as one of the top-tier Twenty20 leagues in the world. He attributed the 149% increase in international media rights value to the league’s competitive and standard cricket, which has garnered attention from fans worldwide.
The new deal has further strengthened the league’s business growth, according to Salman Naseer. He praised Willington Technologies for their record-breaking bid, saying it was a result of the collective efforts of all stakeholders, including franchises, players, and partners. PSL has seen continuous growth in media rights and sponsorships since 2016, becoming Pakistan’s largest sports brand. The league’s accessibility has been expanded to reach more fans worldwide, with PSL matches now being watched on a larger scale than ever before.
Willington Technologies CEO Muhammad Ahsan Tahir said that this achievement is a victory for every Pakistani who believes in the “Made in Pakistan” technology. The company has several plans for PSL, including the International Cricket Council (ICC) Under 19 World Cup, which was won by India. Tahir also mentioned the Asian Under 21 Snooker Championship, which will be held in Qatar.
Several exciting developments are expected in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2026, including the participation of veteran players. According to Lincoln Media, Sri Lanka Cricket has written a letter to the Pakistan Cricket Board, stating that the announcement of the boycott has affected Sri Lanka’s tourism sector, with many fans cancelling their hotel bookings. Former Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik said that the cricket season is at its peak, and the topic of selection is also relevant. A video has been released, showcasing Pakistani cricketers in a light-hearted manner, mimicking Aamer Ahmed’s style.
