Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have strengthened their bilateral relationship with the signing of a new defense agreement, which has opened up new avenues for government-to-government and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries. According to Ambassador Ahmed Farooq, the new agreement will promote cooperation in various sectors, including information technology, agriculture, textiles, and eight other areas.
The ambassador said that the defense agreement will lead to an increase in Pakistani exports to Saudi Arabia, with the country’s exports to Saudi Arabia reaching an all-time high. He also revealed that Saudi Arabia has imported Pakistani goods worth $720 million annually, while services exports have reached $590 million.
Additionally, Ambassador Farooq said that 500,000 Pakistani workers are expected to arrive in Saudi Arabia by 2025. The two countries have also agreed to strengthen their cooperation in areas such as energy, defense, tourism, and education.
Meanwhile, opposition leader Maqsood Gohar from Punjab Assembly has expressed his disappointment with the government’s handling of social media, saying that the ruling party’s social media accounts are humiliating their opponents. He was speaking to the media outside the Punjab House.
In a separate development, the Pakistani embassy in Ankara has organized a formal event to mark Kashmir Solidarity Day, which aims to reaffirm Pakistan’s commitment to the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination and their just struggle. The event also saw the signing of an agreement to establish an inter-regional forum between the two countries.
