Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar held a telephonic conversation with the Secretary-General of the Commonwealth, reaffirming Pakistan’s role as a founding member of the organization, good governance, and its commitment to development. The meeting aimed to further boost multifaceted cooperation between Pakistan and the Commonwealth.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, both leaders emphasized the importance of promoting inter-governmental cooperation among Commonwealth member states and strengthening collaboration in priority sectors. The meeting also underscored Pakistan’s resolve to continue playing an active and constructive role in the Commonwealth forum.
A significant project, the Uzbekistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan Railway, was identified as a vital component of regional connectivity. The two countries agreed to enhance cooperation in energy, defense, tourism, and education sectors. In a separate development, the opposition leader, Punjab Assembly member, Mian Mehmood ul Rasheed expressed his discontent with the ruling party, stating that social media is a source of humiliation for the party.
Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari emphasized Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination. The Pakistani Embassy in Ankara hosted an official ceremony to mark the Kashmir Solidarity Day, reiterating Pakistan’s strong support for the Kashmiri people’s just struggle for freedom.
A significant agreement was reached between Pakistan and Uzbekistan to establish an Inter-Regional Forum. PTI leader Ali Muhammad Khan reiterated his stance that the party should not take any risk regarding the health of its founding leader. In a separate incident, Pakistani Army Chief General Asim Munir visited the Muzaffarabad region, paying his respects at the Martyrs’ Graveyard and laying a wreath.
President, Prime Minister, and Deputy Prime Minister reaffirmed their full support for the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination.
