As of January 2026, over 37,000 cases of missing persons have been reported in Pakistan, with the majority of them still under investigation, according to official documents. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province has seen the highest number of reported cases, with over 3,7070 cases registered up to January 2026. However, the authorities have been able to resolve 2,760 of these cases, with 970 still under investigation.
According to official statistics, over 1,804 missing persons have been traced in KP. Out of these, 707 individuals have returned home, 861 were found at internship centers, 148 are in custody, and 88 bodies have been recovered. Nationally, the number of missing persons cases has reached 108,806.
In Punjab, 1,794 cases have been reported, out of which 1,583 have been resolved, and 211 are still under investigation. Sindh has reported 1,868 cases, with 1,723 resolved and 145 under investigation. In Balochistan, 2,917 cases have been reported, with 2,750 resolved and 167 under investigation. Islamabad has reported 416 cases, with 372 resolved and 44 under investigation. Azad Kashmir has reported 71 cases, with 61 resolved and 10 under investigation. Gilgit-Baltistan has reported all 10 cases resolved.
The Pakistan-Tajikistan railway project has been deemed crucial for regional connectivity, and the two countries have agreed to enhance cooperation in energy, defense, tourism, and education.
