Pakistan has demanded that the United Nations Security Council consider banning the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), a militant group believed to be responsible for several terrorist attacks in the country. Addressing the Security Council, Pakistan’s representative, Asim Iftikhar, highlighted the risks of global security and stability posed by terrorism, citing the resurgence of the BLA in Afghanistan following the Taliban’s takeover.
The BLA, which has been designated as a terrorist organization by the United States and the European Union, has claimed responsibility for several attacks in Balochistan, including one that resulted in the deaths of 48 civilians last week. Asim Iftikhar accused the group of carrying out brutal and inhumane attacks in Pakistan, with the active support of their eastern neighbor, Afghanistan.
In other news, Pakistan and Uzbekistan have agreed to enhance cooperation in energy, defense, tourism, and education, with the two countries designating the Afghanistan-Pakistan Railway Project as a key project for regional connectivity. Opposition leader Meen Akhtar Khan has expressed his reservations about the health of PTI founder Imran Khan, stating that even a single percent risk to the former prime minister’s health is unacceptable.
